HOW TO UPDATE BLACKBERRY OS

There are three ways to update your smartphone software if you are running BlackBerry® 7 OS or earlier.

1. On the web
   
2. Using BlackBerry® Desktop Software
3. From your smartphone (over-the-air)

  Update on the web

  Step 1

  With your smartphone disconnected, click Check for Updates.

  If you receive the message that no updates are available after clicking on the Check for updates button, you may still be able to find software for your smartphone by visiting the software download site for your carrier. Find the software download site for your carrier.

  Step 2

  When prompted, save the plug-in.
  
   

  

  Step 3

  After the plug-in is downloaded, open it and click Run to install the drivers.
   

  

  Step 4

  When the application loader launches, connect your smartphone and select OK to start the update process.
  

  

  Update using desktop software

  

  You can use BlackBerry® Desktop Software to look for and install updates on your smartphone. To get started, simply connect your smartphone to your computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Software, then click Update.

  You can update your BlackBerry smartphone OTA (over-the-air) without connecting to a computer. To get started, select the Options icon from the Home screen. Choose Device, then Software Updates and follow the instructions.¹
